Posted on: 29/Apr/2014 11:25:34 AM
As we surviving in the peak summer season right now, there creates the stage of water scarcity across railway stations.

Hence, commuters in the railway station are under the compulsion to buy water bottle at a cost of Rs.15, to soothe their thirst, complained by the travelers.

Below is the report given by Mr. T. Ravi Kumar, chief of All India Rail and Bus Passengers Welfare Association, regarding the state of the water scarcity:

Drinking water pipe facilities are not available in all the platforms of the railway stations. Also water flow is not regular in the available water pipes.

Even though about 1 % of the railway charges are allotted for the railway maintenance, it is not properly reaching the basic amenitities like drinking water and toilet services, etc.

Murugaiyan, Director of Railway Commuters Association Thirunindravur, during his speech mentioned that water scarcity prevails on all main congested railway stations including Chennai Central, Ezumbur Railway station, Thiruvallur, Arakkonam and Thirunindravur railway stations.

Commuters are registering their grievances that, they didn’t receive water in the station for the past few months. Railway authorities should take full responsibility in serving safe and pure water to the commuters and it is their duty in turn, he added.
