Crime Branch CID of the city police will soon be having their new office at the old police commissionerate campus. The four-storey, 50,000 sqft structure, built at an estimated 10.75 crore by the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation, is likely to be inaugurated after the elections.
A senior officer said the building had been designed on the lines of the office of the director general of police.
The CB-CID initially received approval for a five storey building. But they changed the design after Archaeological Survey of India officials said it would dwarf the 170-year-old commissioner’s office, a heritage building.
The division has three sub-divisions — CB-CID, crime wing and economic offences wing
