How to ascertain whether the application has reached or not?
The details regarding whether the applications have been scrutinised, whether it was complete in all aspects, and whether random number has been allotted will be relapsed by Anna University on its website.
The students can use their application number and find the details on the internet. The defects, if any, would be pointed out. Correction has to be done. The correction can be made by either e-mail or by calling the contact numbers given in the site.
Once the scrutiny of all applications and allotment of random numbers are completed, an invitation letter carrying the details of date & time of the counselling session will be sent by post. Also, SMS would be sent to the individual cell phone, if furnished. This SMS should be preserved by the students till the counselling is completed.
What if no invitation is received or if the student loses it?
The students attending counselling require the invitation letter and MUST carry it. They have to take extra care not to lose it. However, if it is lost, the concerned student can arrive 2/3 hours earlier than the time of counselling, meet the officials and get a duplicate invitation letter by showing the SMS sent by the university.
What are the documents to
be taken to the counselling sessions?
If applying for the special category, the relevant certificates for the same should be taken.
Ensure that these certificates are as per the form suggested by the University. If the student is a ‘first generation’ graduate, a certificate from a public notary should be taken. If the student is from military or army personnel, a certificate to that effect must be taken. If differently-abled, the relevant certificate must be taken. If the student is a talented sportsperson, the winning certificates from different competitions must be taken.
What are the aspects to be considered while selecting the college for admission?
With the ‘cut-off’ marks obtained, the student can easily find out the colleges which would give admission. Please visit the college of your preference and meet the students and get the feedback about the quality of education, teaching, the infrastructure, and other faculties including job prospects. Visit more colleges and gather details. This exercise would give a clear idea about the selection of the college.Do not select a college just because your friends are studying there. Find out the college having the best faculty & facility for your specialisation field. Consulting other engineering students would be very useful. You can plan your expense budget according to the prevailing financial capacity.
What are the fees to be paid when attending counselling?
Students applying under
open quota should pay the initial deposit of Rs. 5,000/-.
People belonging to backward communities or Arundhathiyars, or tribes should pay an initial deposit of Rs. 1000/-. This payment will be deducted from the education fees. Payment can be made in cash or by Demand Draft (Secretary, TNEA – 2014). These are the only modes of payment. The student has to show the invitation letter and register the names before the payment. Counselling forms will be given. This can be taken to the counselling hall.
Who else the student can bring along for the counselling session?
The student can bring one of the parents. This would make it easier for selecting the college. If parents cannot come, elder brothers or sisters can be taken. No outsiders are allowed to be taken.Even if the parents happen to be uneducated; the student has to be careful not to bring any outsider as these is a scope for being misled.
What if it happens that the student cannot attend the counselling session?
It is imperative for the student to attend the counselling as it is the most important part in the admission. However, if circumstances do not permit the student from attending the counselling session, he would lose the spot for his ‘cut-off’ marks. The priority for the counselling is based on the time given to the student. If the student is not able to attend due to illness or some other reasons, he can send someone else e as per his preference. For example, if the student has fallen sick, he/she can send the parents or elder brother/sister. A letter should be submitted detailing the reasons for not attending and giving the details of the person who is attending the counselling affixed with the photo of the person. This person can submit all the required certificates and documents and participate in the counselling session.
