Long distance trains will not stop in small stations

The Railways have decided to to pull out halts of long-distance trains at small railway stations.

Travelling between Egmore and Tuticorin, Egmore and Salem, Mumbai and Nagercoil, Egmore and Kanyakumari will get faster. On the southern trunk route, four trains will skip Tindivanam.

They are Egmore-Salem Express, Mumbai CST-Nagercoil Express, Chennai Egmore-Kanyakumari super fast Express and Egmore-Tuticorin Pearl City Express.

Two trains, Yeshwantpur-Chennai weekly Express and Chennai-Mangalore Mail, will not halt at Wallajah Road. Mangalore Mail will skip Tiruvallur. The move will come as a blow to Tiruvallur passengers who have been demanding the railways introduce more halts there because it is emerging as a satellite town of Chennai.

Egmore-Salem Express will not halt at Tindivanam, Valapadi gate, Ayodhiyapatinam and Ettapur Road; Madurai-Egmore Sampark Kranti will not stop at Chengalpet; Nagercoil-Chennai weekly express will not halt at Vridhachalam. Chennai Egmore-Rameswaram-Chennai Egmore Sethu Express will not halt at Melmaruvathur, and this could be an unpopular move for pilgrims who get off at Melmaruvathur while coming back from Rameswaram.
