Pulled Down of Hospital Quarters – CMRL

Most of the land opposite to the Chennai Central railway station has been obtained by the metro mail, so as to furnish the underground metro station over this area.

An apartment of 60 houses, locates along the embankment of the Buckingham Canal, which has been used as quarters for the staffs of the Government General Hospital were razed by the metro rail work on Thursday. Well before the residents of this quarters have been stirred to the new cottages near the earlier jail grounds. 

The acquired land will be made even and kept ready for mounting amenitities for underground metro rail station. We will require a lot of area for ventilation machines, air conditioning plants, and walkways for pedestrians and commuters and foot over-bridges and so on, said a senior official of Chennai Metro Rail Limited.

We had also adored consent from the GH chief to evacuate government hospital employees from the quarters, he added.

Public people on the Poonamallee High Road were highly shocked by the flattening work, said Sathish Kumar, a commuter. 

Soon, CMRL will start the destruction drive on the Hotel Central Tower, as they got the go-ahead order from the Supreme Court during February, rejecting the pleas by the hotel owner not in favor of  the run to obtain it.
