Chennai Corporation has announced its proposal of widening more than 40 main roads across the Chennai city. This plan includes chief roads like Sardar Patel Road and Santhome High Road.
On Friday, the corporation council has approved a decree of broadening the city roads by means of land acquisition and pulling down of the private property.
The grounding work of the property plan program for the target of the acquirement alongside of about 10 roads will instigate soon.
The present width of the Santhome High Road is about 18 meters and now after the widening process it will acquire 24 meters by acquiring the private land on both the sides for a stretch of about 1.6km each.
Similarly the Sardar Patel Salai, L.B Road and Kalki Krishnamurthy Salai will get a width of about 30.5 meters after the widening process.
The Jayaram Street, Kodampakam Road and Mosque lane in Saidapet will be of 18 meters wide after the widening process.
The Corporation, Collectorate and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority will commence actions to lessen traffic clogging on taper stretches. Additionally, 41 news roads will be appended in this proposal soon.
The Corporation council also approved a decree on interim bids for road works in few of the 10,000 stretches declared a few months ago.
