The prices of almost all vegetables have continued to increase in the Koyambedu wholesale vegetable market.

The Koyambedu market receives vegetable not only from other districts of Tamil Nadu, but also from Karnataka, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh by trucka and other transport..

Due to the intensively hot summer, the growth as well as the arrival of vegetables reduced greatly. As the quantity was less with more demand, the prices of the vegetables rose in Chennai and suburban areas since last week. The prices rose to the extent of Rs. 15 per kg.

Even after the ‘kathiri veyil’ period, the intensity of summer continues. This has affected the quantity of vegetables arriving such as beans, potato, tomato, etc. The price of almost every vegetable has gone up by Rs. 2/- to Rs. 8/- per kg.
