Telecom regulator TRAI wishes to bring under control the total number of telecom providers in the country. It wants the government to rework on the issue and consolidate the players in this sector. In any country across the world, the maximum number of telecom operator will be 5 or 4, but here in India, there are 12 such operators. In fact, there are countries with only two such operators. The government has to eye on the acquisition guidelines, says TRAI chaiman Rahul Khullar.

Speaking about this, the chief of TRAI says the industry cannot continue this way with 10 to 12 operators. Telecom players have been facing bleeding competition. Despite this, they are facing good improvement and have made hike in tariff too.

There are rumors prevailing that these telecom operators are willing to sell out their company without being able to bear with their financial burden.
