Greames Road in Nungambakkam is well known as a posh locality and people look upon travelling on the road to be very easy. Those who pass by the place know it better anyway. With potholes and deep pits found everywhere, travelling in the road seems to be a very threatening task, say commuters.
The new pavement laid on the road is better used by hawkers leaving pedestrians no way to talk and they are left with no choice other than taking way middle on the road. So many buses and large vehicles pass by, but the condition is still the same without any improvement at all. The corporation marked their presence by filling the potholes and assumes to have accomplished a huge task dutifully.
These fillings serve the people only for a temporary period as its getting washed away when it rains. The potholes are left with little pools of water getting stagnant. Speaking to a student who regularly passes by, he says it is a very key link connecting Anna Salai and Egmore. He adds that pedestrians look for a way to walk amidst pools of water dotting the road.
