Chennai College qualifies for final in Britain Debate contest!

British Council has been organizing a nation-level debate contest. Students of Chennai MOP Vaishnav College won the debate contest and qualified to enter the final bringing glory to the city of Chennai. 26 colleges from Tamil Nadu participated in this debate contest. The final round was conducted yesterday (Thursday, 3rd September) in Chennai.. Students from MOP Vaishnav College located in Nungmambakkam, Chennai won the final round.
 
British council jointly with British Embassy, has been organizing this debate contest over the last few years in order to encourage the debating and communication skill of the students and to create awareness about the higher education institutes in Britain. The debate competition for the current year is in progress.
 
Initially, the competition will be held only at state level and then will move on to the national level when the final will be conducted in Delhi. 2 teams reaching the final rounds will be awarded a prize of 1 week’s educational tour of England.
 
The winning students will also get a chance to watch Barclay’s Premier League football competition. They will also be taken to some of the sites of historic significance and also meet the British college students. The state-level final rounds were conducted at Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Hyderabad,,Delhi, Mumbai, and Kolkata.
 
The final rounds of Tamil Nadu state were conducted in Chennai yesterday. 26 colleges from the state participated. Chennai MOP Vaishnav college won. They will participated in the final rounds at national level with the winners from the competition held in other cities in Delhi during January, 2016. British embassy official Mr, Bharath Joshi appreciated the efforts of MOP Vaishnav College which brought glory to the city of Chennai.
