Second hand car buyers need to be extra cautious henceforth. Automobile experts say the market is likely to get filled with flood hit cars in the coming days. Over thousands of cars in Chennai have taken battering and faced ravage during recent flood in the city. In most cases, the cars have got complete immersed in water for few days. Repairing these cars is expensive and arduous.

One of the automobile spare parts dealer from Saidapet said his friend took his flood-ravaged car to a mechanic. The mechanic quoted Rs 3 lakh higher than the worth price of the car itself. This has forced most car owners to sell out their car to the used automobile market. The dealer added that there are many damaged cars coming into the market.

Sharing his views on the scenario, Vignesh Venkatakrishnan Ramakrishnan, the CEO of Carmatch, a mobile app for buying of cars said buyers need to be cautious and aware and check dates when the car had come into the second hand dealership.

Owner of an automotive startup, Gods of Motorcycle, R. Vignesh said it is also important to be vigilant and careful while buying the spare parts and not just while buying second hand cars. A few parts have developed rust. There are increasing cases of water-damaged motorcycles. It is possible to repair cars that have been submerged in water for long days. These can be brought back to good condition, back on roads. These replaced parts will find their way to second hand spares sop. Spare parts buyers need to be careful about this.
It is recommended to take a mechanic along with you while buying a second hand car at this time.
