The Supreme Court has mentioned that no separate entrance tests should be held this year by private medical colleges for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.

On behalf of Tamil Nadu, Andhra, Telangana, Kerala and Maharashtra governments a petition was filed against the recent NEET. This petition came before a bench of Justices AR Dave, Shiva Kirti Singh and Adarsh K.

MCI counsel and senior advocate Vikas Singh has mentioned that the states can be permitted to hold entrance examinations as per the practice. But permission should not be given to private colleges.

Solicitor general Ranjit Kumar who appeared on behalf of the Government said: State Governments are holding talks with regard to NEET with the Central Health Ministry. He, however, suggested that many students, who had applied for AIPMT but did not appear, should be allowed to appear in the second phase.

The SG also suggested holding a composite test on July 24.

The case is posted to 9th for further decision,
