The central government has released new regulations for production and sales of organic food items in order to improve the quality. It has been informed that these new regulations will be implemented from 1st July.
As per the new regulation:
- The organic food item should be clearly and legibly printed on the label explaining how the product is organic.
- The sprayed insecticide remaining on the food item should not exceed 5%.
- While marketing, the organic food items should be kept separately.
- The item should have the properly obtained logo.
Only if all the above requirements are met, the product can be put up and displayed for sales.
Exemption from the above regulations has been given only to small-scale farmers who sell their products directly to their customers.
