Multiple Pre Monsoon features prevailing across India

The Pre-Monsoon season during this time, i.e. mid-April, gains enough pace. The Pre-Monsoon season activities are dominated by intense heat, thunderstorms, dust storm, lightning, thundershowers along with gale force winds.

Presently, various parts of the country are being affected by a range of weather systems. Beginning with North India, a Western Disturbance is affecting the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. Along with this, an induced cyclonic circulation is over Pakistan and adjoining areas which are likely to affect the plains of North India including North Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi during the next 24 hours.

A cyclonic circulation is over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and adjoining areas. Along with this, the anti-cyclone is in the Bay of Bengal, which has been pushed a little south of its earlier position but is still providing enough moisture. A cyclonic circulation is also over North Jharkhand and adjoining Odisha region.

A trough is also extending from Odisha up to South Tamil Nadu running across Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. This system is expected to cause thunderstorm activity over West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh.

Meanwhile, a wind discontinuity is over central parts of Peninsular India going southwards. Thus, thundershowers are expected over Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka, Kerala, Interior Tamil Nadu and even Goa.

On the other hand, heatwave has gripped parts of Gujarat, adjoining Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha along with a few areas of Rajasthan.
