Rs. 2000 notes get exhausted and in acute shortage in TN ATMs as well

Recently, the northern states of the country experienced a severe shortage of the new currency notes. However, the Reserve Bank of India explained that this shortage was a temporary phenomenon and would be solved and that additional number of Rs. 500 currency notes were being printed.

In a recent development, the shortage of Rs. 2000 currency notes are experienced in Tamil Nadu as well. The ATMs have been giving only Rs. 500 and Rs. 100 currency notes over the last few days.

The bank officials explained regarding this that only the number of Rs. 2000 notes already printed have been in circulation. The Reserve Bank of India has stopped supplying new Rs. 2000 currency notes.

Meanwhile, there are other rumours doing rounds in the public circles the main reason for the shortage of Rs. 2000 notes are that some people have hoarded them and a major part of it has been sent to Karnataka for the legislative election to be conducted.

Further, there is another news gathered that the central government has decided to stop the printing of the new Rs. 2000 currency note.
