Railway employees plan to go on strike for 72 hours on various demands

The railway employee union members plan to go on strike from today (Tuesday, 8th May) for 72 hours insisting on their various demands.

This gives rise to a situation when the railway services are likely to be totally disrupted in the country.

The demands include that private sector must not be allowed in the Railways department, the implementation of the 7th Wages Revision, and implementation of the national pension scheme.

In this connection, there was a discussion held between the central government finance ministry and railways ministry, and the representatives of the All India Railway employees Federation which ended in a failure. Subsequently, the plan to go on strike has been announced.

Accordingly, the Railway employees have begun their strike for 72 hours from today. The 4 unions of the Railway controllers union, Railway securities employees union, railway drivers’ union,  and the railway station officials’ union are participating in this strike. For 72 hours from today.

With this planned strike, there is the strong likelihood of the various railway services being totally disrupted putting the train passengers to great hardships.  So, the train passengers have demanded that the central government should take timely remedial action to prevent this.
