Bank employees unions plan to go on strike

The bank employees unions have decided to go on strike in the month end if the proper upward revision of the salary is not announced and implemented.

In this regard, the general secretary of the All India Bank Employees’ Federation, Venkatachalam explained:

The wage revision contract for the bank employees expired in October 2017. Accordingly, the new wage revision should have been announced and implemented in November 2017. We had several rounds of discussions with the bank administration. The central government and the central fiancé ministry ordered the banks to find a solution and announce the wage revision as early as possible.

The bank administration, citing the huge unrecovered loans, decided to announce 2% upward revision in the salaries. We rejected this proposal. Only the central government and the bank administration are responsible for unrecovered loans. So, it is not proper to pass this burden to the bank employees. We have insisted that proper salary revision must be made.

We want and expect that the central government should intervene and find an immediate amicable solution to this issue.

Otherwise, we have decided to go on a 48-hours strike during this month end.
