The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, explained that higher temperature prevailed in several districts of Northern Tamil Nadu especially because the low-pressure zone which formed over the Bay of Bengal drifted in the northeast direction.
Now this depression zone has drifted towards the northeast and reached the Myanmar coast. Further, the low-pressure format which developed over the Arabian Sea has weakened.
As for the Southwest monsoon rainy season, it prevails in the areas of Tamil Nadu such as Coimbatore, Kodaikkanal, and Tuticorin.
The temperature was higher than the average by 3 to 4 Degrees Celsius. In the last 24 hours, the maximum temperature of 43.5 Degrees Celsius was recorded in Tiruthani.
