For online engineering counselling, 1.45 lakh students apply now

In the year 2017, as many as 1.41 lakh applications were filed for engineering is known. The news now is in this year 2018, as many as 1.45 lakh students have applied for online engineering counselling and that is simply superb. There are only two more days to go before this online engineering counselling gets completed.

It is important to note that till Thursday, 31st May 2018, as many as 140516 students have completed their applications and 5000 students have recorded their marks after completing their registration. One important point here is as many as 1.24 lakh candidates applied on their own and TNEA Facilitation centres or TFC’s have been used by as many as 12091 students.

The students would then be called for verification of their certificates at the TFCs of their choice. Based on this rank list would be made. Beginning from 8th of June to 13th of June 2018, this certificate verification would be carried out in the TFC’s.

Those candidates who couldn’t attend this certificates verification process could authorize a person with a proper authorization letter. On the 6th day another chance would be provided to those candidates who could not attend this certificate verification process held between the above mentioned dates. The booklets issued by the TNEA would contain all the information about the engineering colleges and frequently asked questions. Next phase of online counselling would be explained by means of a video at the TFCs.

While entering their choices, confirmation and allotment, Mr. Rhymend Uthariraj, TNEA secretary, wanted the candidates to utilize these TFC’s. Candidates who do not have internet facilities in their houses could utilize these TFC’s and it would be free. All the TFCs would have superb internet facilities plus qualified faculty members and they would beneficial for the students.

This TNEA secretary later highlighted that TFCs are set up by TNEA in government engineering colleges plus in university constituent colleges, few government polytechnics, government arts and sciences colleges etc. Private engineering colleges do not have these TFCs.

There were few talks that few private engineering colleges are setting up facilitation centres that are not authorized. This is mainly to attract the engineering aspirants.

Social media like Facebook, WhatsApp are used by the colleges and have reached out to the students saying they facilitate online registration free of cost. For choice filling and confirmation, the authorities have advised the students to make use of TFCs effectively as these TFCs provide unbiased guidance and good facilities.
