The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Edappadi K Palanisamy has announced that the use of plastic items will be banned in the state from 1st January 2019.
Today (Tuesday, 5th June) is being observed as the ‘World Environment Day’.
On this special occasion, the state Chief Minister made the above special announcement in the Legislative Assembly.
So, the usage of plastic items will be banned from 1st January 2019. Even the production of plastic items will be banned. Plastic can be used for items like milk, curd, oil, and medicines.
The CM requested whole-hearted cooperation on this from the public and the traders. The Chief Minister observed that it is a well-established fact that plastic items harmful to human lives and health. The toxic gases generated during the manufacture of plastic cause breathing problems and also cattle and other animals and birds by eating plastic items suffers greatly.
