In the JEE (Advanced), 5 students from Tamil Nadu get top 100 ranks now

On Sunday, 10th of June 2018, the results of Joint Entrance Examination (Advance) or JEE (Advanced) were declared is known. The news now is 5 students belonging to Tamil Nadu have got ranks in the top 100. Chennai based student P. Girinath has grabbed many eyeballs now as he got 51st rank in this JEE (Advanced) by securing 285 marks out of 360 marks. He is now the topper from the state of TN.

As per IIT (Kanpur), organising institute for JEE (Advanced), 1.55 lakh students appeared for the exam and 18138 students got qualified. One important piece of information is the number of students who have qualified got reduced from 26000 in the year 2017 to 18000 in the year 2018.

In this year 2018, the total number of seats that are available for the students is 11279. A student named Pranav Goel belonging to Panchkula got 337 out of 360 marks and is the All India Topper. Next rank went to a student named Meenal Parakh belonging to Kota and she got 318 out of total 360 marks.

Chennai based P. Girinath expressed his thoughts about his performance in the JEE (Advanced) and spoke about how he was not sure about getting into top 100 rank. The release of answer keys gave him enough confidence that he would come inside top 100.

This Girinath got coaching from the popular FIIT-JEE and it was after 9th standard only he was able to devote more time for the entrance examination though he started his coaching for IIT JEE as early as in 7th class itself. Now he wants to pursue electrical engineering or mechanical engineering at the very famous IIT Madras. He threw light on the fact that the numerical section of the JEE exam was very tough as it had a new format in this year. A student named R. Raghu Raman got 284 out of 360 marks in the JEE and has secured All India 56th rank now and he wants to join IIT Bombay or IIT Madras for his studies.

Senior manager (Academic Operations) of FIIT JEE spoke about how the numerical section this year was different with new pattern and that was the reason why students got low marks. He was happy that as many as 5 students belonging to TN have done well to get into top 100 ranks whereas just 2 students could get into top 100 ranks in the last year.
