BSNL has announced offering a Rs. 10 discount to its customers who receive e-bills. A public sector undertaking, BSNL has 5.5 Lakhs customers for landline connections and 3.5 Lakhs customers for post-paid mobile phone connections.
The monthly bills as per consumption of the above customers will be sent by post. In this situation, BSNL took a decision to stop sending the bills by post. BSNL decided to send the bill data via e-mail and introduced this new system, known as ‘Go green’.
BSNL Assistant General Manager Vijaya explained in this regard that a new plan, Go green, has been introduced. As per this, instead of the paper bill sent by post, an email will be sent to the email id of the customer. In order to encourage this system, a discount of Rs. 10 is given on the bill.
So far, 40000 customers have registered in this plan. Efforts are being taken to convert the entire billing system to email mode.
Continuous SMS messages are being sent to the mobile numbers given by the customers regarding this. 4 Lakhs bills are sent every month. Efforts are being taken to convert this entire customer billing to the e-mail mode. The AGM further added that the system of sending the paper bill by Post for those who do not have an e-mail id.
