A pride parade for raising voice against discrimination faced by the people belonging to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) life choices. Everything is natural and the pride parade happens for a sole reason of insisting the society for celebrating equality and LGBT rights. Showing respect for every individual who have different choices in lives depending on their nature is the idea behind the parade said many activists of the LGBTQ community.
Many people in Chennai participated in this parade held on last Sunday. The most encouraging factor is that people who do not belong to the LGBTQ community also participated in this grand parade event. The pride started from the outside premises of Rajarathinam Stadium followed through the lanes of South Cooum road that were abandoned as the result of mass eviction done in the name of slum clearance.
The crowd had a positive vibe with colorful entities of rainbow face painting (symbolizing LGBTQ rights), singing, dancing, and selfies of celebration throughout the parade.
People from different paths of life mingle together in this parade to form a society with equal rights for all individuals who have their own rights to choose the form of life they want that do not disturb another life form.
Many kinds of violence and injustice were committed to the queer community throughout the progression of the society in a modern way. Modernity is not changing the things that surrounds us but to allow our own self to adapt for progressive changes. Many LGBTQ activists in the parade mentioned a common fact that they expect a day where a march for pride and dignity for LGBTQ do not happen as the result of people accepting equality as the only way for the betterment of humanity and love.
