The sale of lower-priced LED bulbs, which was stopped for some time, has been resumed again and are being sold near the electricity bill payment centre.
The central government public sector undertaking, Energy Efficiency, sells low-priced and low-power consumption electrical gadgets such as bulbs, LEDs, tube lights, ceiling fan in electricity bill payment centres.
The sales were stopped for a month in some cities including Chennai and Kanchipuram. This was a disappointment for the customers. This news was spread. Subsequently, the sales of LED bulbs have been resumed in the headquarters of TANGEDCO as well as the electricity bill payment counters.
An official explained in this regard that Energy efficiency bulbs and other items are being sold after setting up stalls run by agencies near all the electricity bill payment centres. As it is a hardship to bring the items regularly and take them back due to the shortage of storage space, the agency has requested for extra storage space.
TANGEDCO cannot take the responsibility for the storage of material, However, the issue is being discussed by the senior officials and necessary actions will be taken in order that sales of the bulbs and other gadgets are not affected.
