Residents in T. Nagar in Chennai face problems due to many traders

In the city of Chennai, T. Nagar is an important place is well known. The residents in this T. Nagar have been facing many issues for decades due to traffic and parking. The residents here are also struggling to cope up with other issues such as lack of space for the pedestrians plus garbage clearance and leakage of storm water drains by many commercial buildings present here.

These residents of T, Nagar met businessmen who are involved in gold and textile business in T, Nagar and this meeting took place on Saturday, 30th June 2018. Many issues such as encroachments problems plus irresponsible disposal of garbage, parking woes were discussed in the meeting. Residents asked the businessmen to show some care towards the society apart from their business activities.

According to Mr. Kannan current secretary of T. Nagar Resident’s Welfare Association and a resident of T. Nagar, there is no space to step out due to many violations in T. Nagar. He also spoke about how many commercial buildings are coming up in many residential places. He further highlighted about how the storm water drain constructed to lessen the impact of flooding were filled with plastics as well as sewage.

Mr. Kannan threw light on how a silk showroom here got permission to rebuild an eight- storey structure. He also spoke about the tremors felt by the residents of the neighbouring flats due to underground work in the construction site and how the owners or administration are not bothered about this issue. He explained about how the influential businessmen violate the rules easily in T. Nagar. Another resident of T. Nagar expressed his views and spoke about how buses do not ply on the famous north Usman road but only on the flyover. He later spoke about how many buildings are coming up near flyover and how the buses were not allowed to ply.

It must be noted that the meeting saw the presence of businessmen and representatives from popular Jeyachandran Textiles, Pothys, Chennai Silks and GRT. These businessmen assured that they would do their best to resolve the problems here.
