The advance booking of train tickets for the passengers planning to visit their native places for the important festival of Deepavali got filled up within 7 minutes after the booking counters were opened.

The Central Railway had introduced the facility to book train tickets 120 days in advance. This year, the festival of Deepavali falls on 6th November. So, for the passengers booking for trains leaving on 2nd November, the booking can be done today (Thursday, 5th July). The passengers planning to book tickets for the trains leaving on 3rd November (Friday) can book tomorrow.

It had also been announced that the passengers planning to book tickets for the trains leaving on 4th and 5th November can book on 7th and 8th July.

In this situation, the booking for the trains leaving on 2nd November commenced today (Thursday, 5th July) at 8.00 AM. The Southern Railway administration had set up 250 centres for this. Further, arrangements had been made for both online and direct booking of tickets. Still, the advance booking got filled up within 7 minutes after the counters were opened.

This sudden and quick closing shocked most of the passengers waiting to book. This info was shared by the Train booking Superintendent Sivasubramian. He cited the main reason for such a quick closure to the fact that a large number of passengers planning to travel to southern districts had come for the advanced booking. It may be notable that the booking for Pandian, Nellai, and Malaikkottai (Rockfort) Express was done today.
