Residents of Chennai would be certainly familiar with the Thiru-Vi-Ka Bridge across the Adyar River. The news now is the fibre optic cables laid across this popular bridge in Chennai are hanging very low. These cables are touching the water present underneath this bridge and creating issues for the rowers. It is known that the rowers take this route for their routine practice. This issue has been spoken by many now. In the past week, the members of the rowing clubs in the city of Chennai have faced many issues getting past this stretch because of the fibre optic cables touching the water.

A member of Madras Boat Club expressed her thoughts in this issue and spoke about how the wires sink into the Adyar River as these wires are dangling very low. She then spoke about how risky it was to row in this place because of the possibility of oars getting entangled with these optic cables while rowing fast. It is now revealed that there is no chance of persons getting electrocuted as these cables are not electricity cables. This was confirmed by the officials of TNEB and corporation of Chennai.

For its broadband network, optic fibre cables were laid by a telecommunications company. This was later confirmed by the civic body official who inspected this site. An engineer belonging to Adyar zone shared his views. He spoke about how this low lying fibre optic cable issue was informed to the telecommunication company so that the tightening and binding of the cables could be done to prevent these cables from dangling in the air. Previously it was thought to be telephone or electricity cables but later these cables were confirmed as internet cables.

The superb piece of information is the representatives from the telecommunication company would soon be rectifying this issue.
