Strike by tanker lorries - prospects of acute shortage of fuel

The tanker lorry owners carrying petrol/diesel on contract with Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum have gone on strike demanding higher rental rates.
As more than 500 tanker lorries are not operating with the demand for higher rental rates, there is a strong prospect of facing an acute shortage of fuel in the districts of Chennai and Kanchipuram.
