Rain to persist for 2 days

The director of the Chennai Meteorological Centre, S. Balachandran, during a session with the reporters, informed that with the intensification of the southwest monsoon rainy season in the states of Karnataka and Kerala, there has been heavy rain in the areas lying near the Niligiri and the Western Ghat Hill range such as the districts of  Valparai, Theni, and Dindigul.

In the other areas in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, mild rain has been recorded in a few areas in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. This rain will persist for the next 2 days.

The rainfall recorded over the period from 1st June to 11th July is 86 mm. The average expected for this period is 68 mm. Thus there is an excess 27% rain in this period.

There are prospects of mild rain in the Chennai Metro City during the evening or the night sessions.
