Heavy rain warning for 4 Tamil Nadu districts

The weather centre has informed that there are strong prospects of heavy rains in 4 districts of Tamil Nadu. The southwest monsoon rainy season has been intensively active in the states of Karnataka and Kerala. Subsequently, a warning on the prospects of heavy rains has been released for the districts/areas in the state of Tamil Nadu adjacent to the borders of Karnataka and Kerala and closes the Western Ghat mountain range.

Accordingly, it has been informed that there are strong prospects of heavy in the 4 districts of Nilgiri, Kovai, Theni, and Dinidgul.

There are prospects of light rain in a few places in the Chennai Metro City. It has been informed that there are prospects of light rain in the evening or during the night sessions.

In the last 24 hours ending at 8.30 AM today (Thursday, 19th July), a rain of 10 cm has been recorded in Kovai Chinna Kallar.

In the weather forecast till midnight, it has been warned that the fishermen must not venture into the sea in the coastal areas of Kerala. The waves will be turbulent rising to heights of up to 3.5 meters in the Bay of Bengal from Kulachal to Dhanushkodi. The fishermen of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry have been warned that as the waves in the deeper parts of the sea are extremely turbulent and hence must avoid venturing into these zones.
