Henceforth, it is possible to locate which books are available in which libraries through a new Mobile App. The Tamil Nadu State Minister for the School Education, K. A. Sengottaiyan, has ordered the implementation of the digital mode of operations in all the libraries.
The responsibility for this task has been undertaken by a team of officials under the supervision of the Director of the Public Welfare Department, Rameswara Murugan, including the Associate Director Nagaraja Murugan.
As per this task, the details of books in all libraries will be converted into an electronic registration form of data.
As coaching centres are planned to be set up for the Civil Examinations in the District Central Libraries, the important task of procuring all the books for the coaching classes has also been undertaken.
It has been decided to renovate, modernize, and strengthen all the libraries including the Chennai Devaneya Pavanar Library, Chennai Anna Centenary Library.
A new mobile App is being created to link all the libraries.
In case any reader is interested in locating a particular or specific book, the facility would be available in this App to locate the library in which it is available.
The details of all the titles of books in each library, the author, the edition, and the publisher will be available in this App.
The associated activities have already commenced. The Public Welfare Department of the State Government has undertaken this project jointly with the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation.
