Classes for the 1st year Medical students to commence on 1st August

With the classes for the 1st year medical students all set to start on 1st August, it has been advised to expedite the pending counselling and the related activities and complete the same before this date.

There are 3328 seats available for the government quota in the government and private medical colleges for MBBS course in Tamil Nadu. Similarly, there are 416 seats available under the administration quota. There are 1198 seats available for BDS courses under the government quota and 715 seats available under the administration quota.

Thus, for the total available 5757 seats, 47347 candidates had applied. The counselling has been completed.  The state quota seats are filled. However, the central government quota of seats has not been filled up yet.

However, plans are afoot to commence the regular classes for the 1st year MBBS students from 1st August. With this schedule in mind, it has been advised to expedite all the counselling procedure well in advance.

The officials from the Department of Health explained that the all the medical colleges have been instructed to commence the regular classes for the 1st year medical students by 1st August.

However, the central government quota of seats has not yet been filled up in several colleges. In case these unfilled seats are to be handed over to the state government, arrangements have been made to expedite the same. The authorities have been advised to keep completely prepared for such an event.
