Ranjan Gogoi to assume the post of Supreme Court Chief Justice

Presently, Justice Deepak Mishra is officiating as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India. He completes his tenure of service on 2nd October.

He will be retiring from the services on that day. Subsequently, the President of India has appointed Ranjan Gogoi as the new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court through the release of an order today (Friday, 14th September).

Accordingly, Ranjan Gogoi is set to assume office as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of India.

This information is as per the announcement issued by the central ministry of Law.

His service tenure is scheduled to be completed in November 2019.
