Post the historic judgement by Supreme Court on Section 377, it is imperative to address the issues faced by LGBTIQA+ community. British Council in collaboration with Varta Trust, Kolkata, Grindr For Equality, Los Angeles and SAATHII, Chennai is organizing an event on September 29, 2018 to discuss the issuesfaced by the community and create awareness about their rights.
The event includes a panel discussion on the reading down of Section 377 by Supreme Court and its implications on LGBTIQA+ rights and access to unbiased and quality health and legal aid services for the community. It will be moderated by Brindaalakshmi. K, Campaign Manager, `Reach OUT`. The event will also mark the launch of an online locator for queer friendly sexual health, mental health and legal aid service providers.
This event at British Council is a part of `Reach OUT`, a multimedia campaign to share information about the locator. The campaign aims to support inclusion of homosexual people enabling them to participate in different spheres of life and lists inclusive service providers that LGBTIQA+ people can access for different health and legal issues.
