The India Meteorological Department has informed that a medium to heavy rains will persist in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from 6th October to 9th October.
A Red Alert, which was issued a few days ago, has been subsequently withdrawn.
However, the Indian Weather Research Centre has informed that there are prospects of heavy rains in a few places from 6th to 9th October,
6th October – Prospects of heavy to very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Lakhdivs and a few places in the interior districts of Karnataka state.
7th October – Wide-spread rains in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. Mild to medium rains in Lakhdvs and Kerala. Heavy rain expected in the Andaman, Nicobar, and interior districts of Karnataka.
It had earlier been announced that there were prospects of very heavy rains – This has now been removed.
8th October – Mild to heavy rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
9th October - Heavy rains in a few places in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, ad Kerala.
10th October – No prospects of rain. Wind speed is likely to be from 70 to 80 kmph. The sea might be turbulent.
