Important hubs of Chennai witnessed the sudden increase in property tax even double the earlier tax fixation in some key areas such as T.Nagar, Mylapore, Anna nagar and Nungabakkam. Residents of these areas reported the double multiplied value of earlier taxes increasing their yearly tax budgets. People are in a collective rage against the government to increase the property tax value that too on a scale of double the rates.
Revised property tax rates are distributed to the areas with the new notice 1 but many of the residents claims the fact of not receiving the notice till Monday. Tax rates in the main core areas of the city are increased way beyond 40 percent with some few variations in the suburbs and extended areas of the city.
People in some of these areas planned to file complaint or request against the newly revised tax but the officials are not responding properly said many of the residents in the mentioned zones of Chennai.
Slum clearance and housing development are in a full swing to clear up all the original natives from the city to suburbs where there is no signs of development in terms of education and employment. Now the city dwellers in core areas getting it all back from the government itself in form of heavy taxation policies. People should decide acting properly and placing their oppositions for uniform distribution of houses with nominal taxes.
