The cyclone Titli which formed recently over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a very severe cyclone. However, Tamil Nadu escaped from the fury of this severe cyclone! Since the cyclone drifted towards the coastal areas between Andhra and Odisha, these 2 states had been issued Red Alert.
In the scenario explained as above, the cyclone ‘Titli’ crossed the coast at the early morning 5.30 AM between the coastal Andhra and Odisha. Even as the cyclone crossed the coast, there was heavy rain in the state of Odisha with several trees falling off from their roots.
As a precautionary action, around 3 lakhs coastal residents were shifted to safer areas. The schools were ordered to be closed. The National Rescue Squad has been kept on alert and ready mode for immediate action if required.
