On the impact of the southwest monsoon rainy season, it rained last month in several places in Tamil Nadu.
Recently, even a ‘Red Alert’ was issued to Tamil Nadu with expected heavy rains but it was withdrawn later. The concerned cyclonic format drifted to Andhra and Odisha.
The weather centre has informed that 2 cyclonic formats have developed in the upper layers of the atmosphere over the south Andhra coast and north Kerala-Karnataka. It has informed that this is a clear indication for the onset of the northeast monsoon rainy season.
It has further informed that due to the above mentioned cyclonic formats development, there are prospects of rain in a few places in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and heavy rains in 1 or 2 places.
The Chennai Metro will remain cloudy and there are prospects of intermittent rains.
