Northeast monsoon to kick start, says RMC

In the next two days, it is likely that Chennai city will see up to medium showers. On October 26, the northeast monsoon is set to kick start, according to a regional meteorological centre forecast.

According to a recent release from RMC, it is said that the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are fully relieved out of southwest monsoon. While the RMC officials had already informed that the northeast monsoon will start on Saturday, it did not happen as per what was expected.

Over the Gulf of Thailand that lies above North Andaman Sea, there is a low pressure observed. And above the southwest Bay of Bengal, there is a cyclonic air circulation observed too. It is likely that these two will get intensified. The direction of these systems need to be studied in order to study the further possibilities of rain. The onset of monsoon shall be intimated upon observing the pattern of wind and the progress of weather system and rainfall on the whole.

On Saturday night, in the core regions, there were 1mm rain and suburban areas got 14mm rain. Throughout the forenoon, there prevailed cloudy sky.

A few parts of the city saw mild drizzle which was not recoded as rain by the RMC.

According to the forecast pertaining to the next 24-48 hours, the sky is to remain cloudy with slight or medium thundershower and rainfall expected in a few areas. The maximum temperature expected is 32C and minimum is 25C. In the following three days, the weather is going to be warm and humid, say reports.

In the past two days, there was marginal dip in temperature observed. On Sunday, the temperature was 31C and on Saturday, it was 32.6C.
