The director of the Chennai Meteorological Department has informed that there is a low-pressure format prevailing over the coastal part of the southern Tamil Nadu. Further, there is a cyclonic format developed over the Maldives in the upper layers of the atmosphere.

Due to the above, it has been raining in a few places in the last 24 hours in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. As for the next 24 hours, there are prospects of medum rain in several places in South Tamil Nadu and a few places in the Northern Tamil Nadu.

As for the possibility of heavy rains, ther are prospects of heavy rains in the southern disitrcts and the delta districts and Pudhukkottai, Cuddalore, Karaikkal, and Puhucherry.

As for the Chennai Metro City and its suburbs, the sky will be cloudy. There are prospects of light rain in a few places. There are no prospects of rain in some districts including Chennai and Kanchipuram due to the prevailing low pressure zone,

Only if the winds blowing from the east drifts towards the northern direction, there may be rains in the Northern Tamil Nadu. Otherwise, the prospects of rain will only be in southern Tamil Nadu.
