The 42nd Chennai Book Fair is all set to be inaugurated today (Friday, 4th January) by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, E. Palanisamy at the YMCA Ground, Chennai Nandanam. This Book Fair is organised by BAPASI (Booksellers and Publishers’ Association of India),
The book fair will function on the weekdays from 2.00 PM to 9.00 PM and from 11.00 AM to 9.00 PM on holidays and weekends up to 20th January.
There are 820 bookstalls in the book fair. Around 1.5 Crores of books on 10 Lakhs to 12 Lakhs topics are set up for sales.
A large-size statue of Mother Tamil is to be erected in the Book Fair Grounds on 5th January. The State Minister K. Pandidarajan will open.
In various organised every day, the writers and personalities from the Arts field are participating.
Actor Kamal Hassan will deliver a special address on 8th January on the topic ‘Vasithen-Yosithen’ (Read the matter and then thought about it).
The entrance fee for the Book Fair is fixed at Rs. 10 per person. A new facility, a pass to be issued for Rs. 100, is being introduced from this year. With this pass, a person can make an unlimited number of entries and exits from & to the Book Fair.
