From the state of TN, seven personalities to get Padma Shri awards

Padma Shri award is one of the India’s highest civilian awards and these awards were given from the year 1954 onwards is well known to us. It must be taken into account that this prestigious award is usually awarded to those who have contributed towards the fields like education, sports, industry, science, medicine, social service etc. The latest news is as many as seven important personalities from the state of Tamil Nadu would receive Padma Shri awards and these include Sri Bangaru Adigalar founder of Adhiparasakthi movement in Melmaruvathur, table tennis player Sharath Kamal, transwoman dancer Narthaki Natraj etc.

Others from TN who would receive this Padma Shri award are Madurai based social worker Chinna Pillai, popular percussionist Anandan Sivamani also known as Drums Sivamani. It must not be forgotten that Chinna Pillai became highly popular when the former prime minister of India, Mr. Vajpayee fell at her feet in an award function. It is worthy to note that famous plastic surgeon Dr. Ramaswami Venkataswamy, founder of Institute for Research and Rehabilitation of Hand and the department of plastic surgery at Stanley medical college, Chennai plus another famous ophthalmologist from Coimbatore Dr. R. V. Ramani would also receive this prestigious award.

Drums Sivamani expressed his delight and spoke about how it was due to gods will that he was selected for Padma Shri award now. He dedicated this prestigious award to his mother Lakshmi Anandhan and India. Popular dancer Narthaki Natraj shared her feelings on being selected for Padma Shri award. She spoke about how she was overwhelmed when the announcement about her being selected for Padma Shri award was made on the stage. It must be noted that the devotees were very happy about Sri Bangaru Adigalar being chosen for this prestigious award. This was later confirmed by PRO of Adhiparasakthi Siddhar Peedam, Mr. Ravi.
