Building a flyover has been going on at Vandalur since the month of September 2016 is known. It is now brought out that the department of Highways has fixed April end as the deadline for the completion of the work. The information collected is when the construction of this 6-lane flyover gets completed then it would allow the vehicles to pass over the Vandalur junction.

It is worthy to mention that a new traffic signal would be installed at the Vandalur- Kelambakkam Road and in the GST Road. The traffic in these places are very heavy is known. By the installation of traffic signals, the completion of the works on 2 deck slabs of Rs 55 crores at Vandalur would be facilitated.

It was pointed out by an official that the contractor has got time till the end of June and the work has been planned in such a way that it would get completed even before the above mentioned month. Many factors like labour issues, non-availability of sand and increase in the prices of cement have created huge problems for the delay of the work that was supposed to get completed by the end of the last year itself.

The official then explained the cause for the delay and said that the labourers belonging to northern part of India have gone back to their homes for a month. It is now revealed that this delay has been compensated. It is worthy to mention that the traffic signal would allow vehicles towards Chennai from Kelambakkam to take right turn beneath the flyover. The point is motorists presently are taking left and a U turn to travel to Chennai.

The work on construction of the flyovers ramp plus other activities like building panels on the sides, retaining wall etc would be taken up when there is traffic diversion. According to an engineer it is clear that for the purpose of filling fly ash has been arranged from Ennore Thermal Power Station. There were few complaints from the residents regarding how during the peak hours the motorists have to wait for 10 minutes at the signal.
