Vellore records 110 Degrees - 10 cities cross 100 Degrees mark

10 cities in the state of Tamil Nadu recorded temperatures of over 100 Degrees Fahrenheit yesterday (Sunday, 5th May). A maximum temperature of 110 Degrees Fahrenheit was recorded at Vellore.

The Chennai Meteorological Centre officials explained in this regard:

‘as per the temperature recorded at 5.30 PM yesterday (Sunday, 5th May), a maximum temperature of 110 Degrees was recorded in Vellore. Trichy and Tiruthani recorded 108 Degrees. Karur Paramathi recorded 106 Degrees. Madurai and Palayamkottai recorded 105 Degrees. Dharmapuri recorded 104 Degrees. Salem recorded 103 Degrees. Chennai airport are recorded 102 Degrees. Parangippettai recorded 100 Degrees.

As at 8.30 AM concluding the previous 24 hours, a maximum rainfall of 14 cm was recorded at Sholingur, Vellore. Thiruvallur R K Pettai recorded 7 cm rainfall. Tiruthani recorded 2 cm rainfall.

A strong heat wave has been blowing in Andhra and Telangana. There is a heat wave in a few places in the state of Tamil Nadu as well! Hence, the heat wave will prevail for the next few days in a few places in Tamil Nadu. There are prospects of mild rain in a few places.’
