The Directorate of the Medical Education Council has informed that a total of 59632 applications have been received from the candidates interested in pursuing the medical courses of MBBS and BDS.
The process of online submission/registration for applications to pursue medical courses of MBBS and BDS commenced on 7th June. The students (boys and girls completing +2) applied online for this on the websites: www.tnhealth.org. and www.tnmedicalselection.org.
A total of 68020 candidates had applied for the seats for medical courses available in both government and private medical colleges. Out of this, 39103 candidates have applied for seats under the state government quota. 29007 candidates had applied for the seats under the administration quota in private medical colleges.
The timeline for the candidates to download the application forms, fill up and attach all the required documents for sending it either by post or directly in person in the office of the Directorate of Medical Education Council concluded at 5.00 PM on Friday, 21st June (yesterday).
Accordingly, 34386 applications under the government quota and 25388 applications under the administration quota making for a total of 59756 applications having been submitted. These applications will be scrutinized and the rank/merit list of the applicants is scheduled to be released on 2nd July.
The 1st Phase of counselling for the students is scheduled from 4th July to 12th July.
On the 1st day, the counselling is scheduled for the candidates under the special quota/section cadre and the heirs of the workers in Perunthurai IRT College.
Subsequently, the counselling for the candidates of the open community cadre is set to commence on 5th July.
Once the number of unfilled All India quota is returned to the state government, it is planned to commence the 2nd Phase of counselling.
