In the future, after the lock down gets lifted, CMRL would be running metro trains only every 10 minutes in the peak hours and only every 15 minutes in the non peak hours.

There were metro trains in Chennai for every 5 minutes in the peak hours and every 7 minutes in the non peak hours before the lock down was done is known.

The metro rail has got detailed operating plan or DOP now. It is now revealed that as soon as the passengers enter the metro station they would be subjected to temperature checks. Hand sanitizers would be provided to the passengers. After entering the concourse level, the passengers would have to go to the counter to get smart card or a paper ticket.

Issue of tokens would not be there atleast temporarily and this was as per the officials of CMRL. An official expressed his thoughts and spoke about the difficulty associated with the sanitizing the tokens from the passengers.

He explained about how paper tickets issued would be collected in a box at the trip end and the box would be disposed of carefully. It must be noted that the passenger can use the ticket vending machines only to recharge their smart cards. The baggage of the passengers would be scanned by the staffs without touching and the commuters would be screened through door frame metal detector only.

As of now, the hand held metal detector would not be used. In the lifts, just 4 persons would be allowed. Passengers must stand on alternate steps on the escalators. For physical distancing, floor markers were created at both platforms as well as at the concourse levels.

There would be staffs to make sure that the rules are followed by the passengers. It is now said that throughout the day places like lifts, escalators, AFC gates, ticket counters etc would be cleaned every 4 hours.
