The officials belonging to the WRD have confirmed now that the reservoirs in Chennai were full and the water would be available for the residents for the next 12 months. Sound’s fantastic isn’t it!!
Desalination plants have been supplying water and the purchase from these plants has been reduced now. It is superb to note that the total storage now is 10694 mcft and in the previous year the total storage was just 6229 mcft. The rains along with storms in the months of November and December have made sure that the reservoirs received copious inflow of water.
As per an officer belonging to WRD, 830 MLD water per day is being supplied to the core and added areas of Chennai. He assured that there was enough water available to supply the residents this year. Information is that only 36 MLD water from Nemmeli desalination plant and 85 MLD water from Minjur desalination plant is being purchased now.
