The waiting time for the process before boarding and after getting out from the flight at the Chennai airport is time consuming and tedious and the passengers often find them tough. This would soon become a thing of the past in the future. Hereafter, the international passengers travelling to Chennai or from Chennai could feel relieved.. Point to be noted is that the new integrated terminal at the Chennai airport has been built with more immigration counters and also with CSIF security checkpoints.
In the new terminal, the number of immigration counters would be increased from 12 now to nearly 54. It is clear that even if the passenger traffic becomes more sudden even then the crowd would be managed effectively. It was brought to light by an officer in Chennai airport that the present building has just 10 counters and the new building would have as many as 20 counters. By this, the process would become faster. It is worthy to note that some sources have mentioned that the building facilities alone would not be enough and more staff would be needed. Truth is that the officers at the Chennai airport have brought out the manpower shortage at the immigration desks. Soon, the influx of international passengers would become normal.
