Conjunctivitis – the common infection is wide spreading due to the intermittent showers across the city. Previously 1 or 2 patients were faced by private practitioners at Egmore’s Government Ophthalmic Hospital every day.
This count has now increased to 4 to 5 after the rain. This infection is either bacterial or viral. With the use of antibiotic drops, the viral conjunctivitis could be easily treated and is self-limiting.
It causes gritty feel in the eye when the patient gets inflammation in the eye. The patient may experience swelling of the eye and may have discharge at times.
