Construction of bridges has been going across several parts belonging to Chennai. Now, the Chennai Corporation has speeded up the works on the bridges. It is revealed that the work on the bridges in places like Egmore, Elephant Gate, Villivakkam etc would be completed in another 3 months.
It was later brought out by an officer belonging to GCC that the bridge across Cooum River on the Arunachalam Road is almost over. He added that the work on the bridge at Elephant Gate has been expedited and it would get completed in 3 months.
Just recently, Chennai Corporation Commissioner Mr. Gagandeep Singh Bedi and Chennai Mayor Priya inspected the work in several places in Chennai. According to an official belonging to Chennai Corporation, the approach road on both sides of Stephenson Road Bridge would be completed by 1st of October 2022. By 15th October, the work on 7 beams on the Stephenson Road Bridge would be completed and the top slab would be completed by 30th of October.
By October, work on the Villivakkam Bridge would be completed. It must be taken into account that at present work on 17 girders on the Kolathur side of the existing level crossing is going on. By 15th October 2022, all girders would be placed. The road connectivity between Villivakkam and Kolathur would get better once the work on the bridge gets over fully.
By 15th of October, in T. Nagar, work on 1 escalator and the 24 pans in the skywalk would get over and by 15th November work on 2 lifts would get over. It is noteworthy that the work on 18 of the 24 span sheets is going on and handrails for 6 out of 24 portions have been completed. Pedestrian movement between bus stands and suburban railway stations would be made easy due to the skywalk. Information collected is that by 25th of August the land plan schedule for a bridge near Valluvar Kottam would be completed. In a few months time, bridge construction will begin. It is superb to mention that once the bridge gets ready the traffic congestion on the stretches like Valluvar Kottam High Road and Thirumalai Pillai Road would reduce.
